Iโ€™m trying something new on my website, and links and ads are part of the process. Let me know what you think of this!

My name is JinJa Birkenbeuel and I am the CEO of Birk Creative and also the founder of the The Honest Field Guide podcast. And today I am here to review matches, tons of matches. And you're probably asking why I'm reviewing matches and I'm going to tell you. Have you ever heard that song by Neil Young called "Piece of Crap?"

Well, I have purchased several different brands of matches over the last year for Amazon and half of the matches I order don't actually strike. So I decided after reviewing bonnets, durags, and hair wraps last week that I'm going to actually do a review of strike matches because why spend a ton of money on beautiful decorative matches if the purpose of them doesn't actually work? If they don't actually light?

And why do I even care about matches? Because I am a candle freak. I can't even live my life without lighting my candles. And you know I actually wrote an essay recently in Fast Company Magazine and that was published on preventing burnout. My preventing burnout strategies include lighting candles with real matches.

So that's why I'm reviewing matches and I'm doing that right now while I have my cup of morning tea which is you know, my other obsession, so stick around and watch my YouTube channel playlist, and go get you some great matches. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel. I have plans to review SO many other products, honestly, and only because I love lots of well designed, and useful things.

These matches made by Winecraft are not the best quality, there are better matched, but the glass jar is really nice. The one thing that is challenging is that I have to use two hands to get a match, and the glass is also very delicate, so I'm worried I will break it. The matches and their container lool great on a table!

I am obsessed with candles, and I love the ritual of striking a real match, lighting a candle, and blowing out the match and watching the smoke spiral around through the air. It's a lovely experience.

This product, the cowboy boot match holder is soooo adorable, I love it so much. I have a country band called Utah Carol, so it's perfect for the country girl in me. It doesn't come with matches, but the Diamond Brand matches fit in it perfectly, which is great, because their box is the worst design everrrr, I will never leave a Diamond Brand matchbox anywhere except outside on my gas grill.

BTW, I was not asked to review any products and I wasn't paid to review anything either. (And if I were paid, I would disclose my content as a sponsored post. I'm not tryna get sued or damage my reputation.) I'm just obsessed with cool, well-designed and useful things, and I'm sick and tired of getting bum products! Hopefully, you will be more informed about the products I share, and not fall for a pretty box or package.

The grand standard of quality matches has to be Diamond Matches, but the biggest problem for me is that the box design is SOOOO unappealing. (Hint hint diamond, hire me to design some amazing match boxes!)

I have purchased several different brands of matches over the last year for Amazon and half of the matches I order don't actually strike-- except the Diamond Brand. Super reliable. I highly recommend the matches for your candle lighting rituals, but find a great container to place their matches in. I reviewed a great container, the Cowboy Boot, which you may enjoy!

Many matches you will buy on Amazon and elsewhere are really just no good. I've tried too many to list. So here I am, buying all kinds of matches, hoping to find the perfect match, kind of like trying to find a boyfriend on match.com. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not really, this is WAY easier!

These Benevolence matches are my number one pick. They are excellent, the wood is solid, the color is nice, the branding is beautiful, and you can tell they care about the products. These matches are on the expensive side, but they are truly worth it for your best candle lighting experiences.

I have purchased several different brands of matches over the last year for Amazon and half of the matches I order don't actually strike. Unfortunately like these from Thankful Greetings, and HomArt, they sadly don't perform as well as I had hoped by the packaging. You can still give them a try, but this is a solid NO for me. Until they get a better match goin'... as the Sharks say "I'm Out"

Similar to my reviewing of bonnets, durags, and hair wraps last week to find the best function, cost and style, I am reviewing strike matches in the same way. Because why spend a ton of money on beautiful decorative matches if the purpose of them doesn't actually work?

I soooooo wanted to love this item. It's beautiful, delicate, and looks great on a table. Unfortunately, the. matches do not strike well, and when you lift the jar to grab a match, they start to all fall out. It was fun reviewing them, and you are welcome to give them a shot, but there are better solutions out there for good quality matches and containers.
