I tried a bunch of hair bonnets, head wraps, do-rags and more—and these are the winners in my book.
Over the last year, my natural hair is grown very long (I even wrote a story about this that was published in Fast Company Magazine), so I've needed to use different types of hair products, and also to try different types of wraps for my hair so that when I wake up from a really good night sleep, my natural hairstyle has maintained some of its original style and definition. Also, a couple months ago one of my sons had a friend over for a movie night. When I went downstairs to check on them and give them fresh popcorn and I noticed one of my son’s friends had a satin hair bonnet on.
I loved to see it! He told me that he loved the hair bonnet too because it made his hair feel really good, and when he wakes up in the morning his hair would typically be a mess, and more. This is one of my son’s white friends who I never imagined would wear hair bonnet.
This then put me on a quest to find out what's going on with hair bonnets these days, because my bias has blinded me to the utility of hair bonnets for everyone. This is a review of what are some of the best hair bonnets available I can buy because with my existing bonnets, some of them don't last as long, they get too stretchy. And then there are others that really just don't keep my hair very organized when I wake up in the morning.
This review is an effort to not only discover for myself what are some of the best products to maintain my own natural hair and reduce the number of washes because #washday is a major effort in my house with my hair, but also maybe I can help you decide which hair bonnets work best for your hair too.

The durag is for sure a great option for all hair types and for people with straight hair or close cropped hair. It still works for large, poofy hair like mine, but there are better options.

🌙 Satin bonnet lovers, listen up! 😍 This is the first silk bonnet I've ever purchased and the feel is amazing and way different from satin. But here's the catch: it only comes in one size and I have a LOT of hair. 😩 I tried the Yanibest satin bonnet yesterday and it worked well, but this one feels tighter and a bit too much for my prone-to-migraines head. 🤕 Any tips on how to loosen it? I've searched online but no luck. Still trying to compare silk versus satin.
